Câu tường thuật (Reported Speech)

Câu tường thuật (gián tiếp) thuật lại lời người khác nói không dùng dấu ngoặc kép. Thì thường lùi một bậc (hiện tại→quá khứ, will→would, can→could), và đại từ cùng từ chỉ thời gian/nơi chốn đổi theo góc nhìn mới. Câu hỏi tường thuật dùng trật tự câu kể; mệnh lệnh tường thuật dùng "tell somebody to do". "say" không có tân ngữ; "tell" cần một tân ngữ (tell me).

Ý chính

• Lùi thì: is→was, do→did, will→would, can→could, have→had. Backshift: is→was, do→did, will→would, can→could, have→had.
• Câu hỏi tường thuật giữ trật tự câu kể và bỏ do/does/did. Reported questions keep statement order and drop do/does/did.
• say (không tân ngữ) khác tell + tân ngữ: "told me", không "said me". say (no object) vs tell + object: "told me", not "said me".

Ví dụ

• She said the shipment had arrived. Cô ấy nói lô hàng đã đến.
• He asked whether the price included tax. Anh ấy hỏi liệu giá đã bao gồm thuế chưa.
• They told us to submit the form by Friday. Họ bảo chúng tôi nộp đơn trước thứ Sáu.

Lỗi người Việt hay gặp

• "He said me" → "He told me" / "He said to me". "He said me" → "He told me" / "He said to me".
• Giữ trật tự câu hỏi: "asked where was it" → "asked where it was". Question order kept: "asked where was it" → "asked where it was".
